THE STORY BEHIND THE ALBUM
STATE OF THE UNION
A progressive R&B experience shaped by love, tension, truth, and the conversations that define our relationships.
Created by Double AA, State of the Union is a 12-track exploration of where two people stand, what remains unspoken, and what becomes possible when honesty finally enters the room.
THE WHY
AN ALBUM
SHOULD TAKE YOU SOMEWHERE.

State of the Union was created from Double AA’s love for the full listening experience, the kind of album that asks you to stay from the first note to the last.
Across 12 tracks, the project moves through groove, vulnerability, tension, truth, and possibility. Each record adds another perspective to one larger conversation: where two people stand, what has gone unspoken, and whether honesty can move the relationship forward.
“State of the Union is a special record for me. It was created from my love for full listening experiences.”
DOUBLE AA
THE SOUND
CLASSIC IN FOUNDATION.
PROGRESSIVE
BY DESIGN.
State of the Union is grounded in the musicality and emotional honesty of R&B, then pushed forward through modern production, purposeful sequencing, and Double AA’s instinct for turning contrast into cohesion.
Guy’s debut album helped shape his understanding of energy, identity, and the power of creating a complete sonic world. Michael Jackson’s Thriller demonstrated how one album could move across moods without losing its center. Those records became standards of excellence, not templates to imitate.
Across 12 tracks, warm harmony meets hard rhythm, intimacy gives way to tension, and every transition advances the larger story. The result is progressive R&B: familiar enough to feel, expansive enough to reveal something new.

THE STANDARDS
GUY
Energy. Identity. A world of its own.
THRILLER
Range. Precision. Intentional sequencing.
HONOR THE FOUNDATION.
EXPAND THE LANGUAGE.
THE COLLABORATORS
ONE VISION.
MANY VOICES.

State of the Union was built on the belief that collaboration should deepen a record, not simply decorate it. Each artist brought a distinct tone, perspective, and emotional weight while serving the larger vision of the album.
Across the project, Yuneer Gainz, Young Steff, Kaydence, Ka’miko, Trez Bell, Destinyy Nicole, PRKR Knows Best, Hailee Kaleem Wright, and Mal Saunders help bring its conversations to life. Their voices create chemistry, contrast, vulnerability, and movement throughout the 12-track experience.
What connects them is not sameness. It is intention. Every performance was chosen for what the song needed and for the part it played in the album’s complete emotional journey.

THE PROCESS
THE FIRST VERSION
IS NEVER
THE FINAL VERSION.
State of the Union did not arrive fully formed. It grew through early ideas, recording sessions, collaboration, revision, editing, and the discipline to keep listening until each record became what the album needed.
For Double AA, a song may move through 10, 15, or more than 20 versions as production is refined, performances are shaped, arrangements are tightened, and every choice is measured against the album’s larger emotional journey.
The work continues until nothing feels accidental. From the idea before the session to the rough draft, from constant evolution to the final mix and master, every stage exists to bring the music closer to its clearest, strongest form.

THE EVOLUTION
01 — IDEA BEFORE THE SESSION
The original emotion, concept, or musical spark.
02 — ROUGH DRAFT
The first version that gives the idea somewhere to live.
03 — RECORDING + COLLABORATION
Performances and perspectives that expand the record.
04 — REVISION + REFINEMENT
Editing, restructuring, cleanup, and purposeful detail.
05 — FINAL MIX + MASTER
The completed record, prepared to become part of the album.
EVERY REVISION
SERVES THE RECORD.
THE TRACKLIST
THE ORDER
IS PART OF
THE STORY.
State of the Union was sequenced as one unfolding conversation. Across 12 records and 40 minutes, each song changes the album’s emotional position and prepares the listener for what follows.
The order is intentional because the complete experience lives not only within the individual records, but also within the transitions between them. This is an album created to be heard from the opening invitation through the final note.

EVERY DECISION
BEHIND IT.
“Angels Fly” offers a window into the making of State of the Union. In this episode of Titan Sound Sessions, Double AA sits with Trez Bell, Sam Mandell, and Amond Jackson to revisit the ideas, performances, revisions, and trust that carried the record from its earliest form to the completed album.
More than the story of one song, the conversation reveals the standard behind the entire project: listen closely, protect what serves the record, and continue working until the emotion arrives intact.
